The project involved the installation of 80 dimmable LED flood lights to illuminate the football field and 40 LED stand lights to ensure optimal visibility for spectators. These modern fixtures replaced the aging high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps previously in use, drastically improving both lighting quality and energy efficiency.
Key technical
features
- Precision Lighting Performance: the LED flood lights provide an average of 900 lux across the playing surface, ensuring consistent, high-quality illumination that meets and exceeds The Championship standards.
- Dimming and Light Show Capabilities: the dimmable nature of the LED flood lights allows for customizable light levels and dynamic light shows. Using a dedicated app, stadium operators can control a range of preset effects to enhance pre-match build-ups, goal celebrations, and post-match events.
Energy Efficiency
and Sustainability
One of the most notable outcomes of this project was the significant reduction in energy consumption:
- The previous lighting system required 320 kW of power to operate. The newly installed LED system consumes just 120 kW, representing a 62% reduction in energy usage.
- This substantial improvement in energy efficiency not only reduces operating costs but also supports Millwall’s commitment to sustainability and environmentally conscious operations.
